The Duke in Question is book 3 in the Daring Duke's series by Amalie Howard and I enjoyed it. I will admit I haven't yet picked up books one and two but I will most likely do so as I believe there were references in this one that tie back to the other characters. With that said, I don't think I missed anything that impacted the story so I feel like this one could be read as a standalone if desired.

I've enjoyed Howard's other books and in my experience, her characters are well developed and interesting which definitely helps keep the story moving along. This book wasn't any different as both the FMC and MMC were keeping me turning the pages to see what was going to happen next.

If you're looking for a new historical romance, consider picking this one up.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Never Rescue a Rogue by Virginia Heath is the second book in the Merriwell Sisters series and if you haven't picked up book one yet, definitely go do that and then grab this one too.

Diana Merriwell is our FMC and Giles Sinclair is our MMC and both of them have secrets. Diana's is that she works for a newspaper exposing some pretty big information on gentlemen of the Ton. If it ever got out who writes the stories, who knows what would happen. And Giles...well his parentage is in question based on things his father shared before he died and he knows that Diana is the person who will help him figure out the truth before something happens that could impact Giles and all the people he supports.

I loved the development of these characters not only separately but together. Despite their animosity toward each other, they can't fight the attraction and as they work together, they realize there is more to their relationship than either was expecting.

If you're looking for a new historical romance with an enemies to lovers feel, definitely pick this one up!

A Ruinous Fate by Kaylie Smith is the first book I've read by this author. The thing that drew me in was the cover...I know, I know...don't judge a book by it's cover and all that but come on...look at it. It's so pretty.

All that to say, this one was only ok for me. Please know that based on that ending I'm definitely going to be picking up the next book but there was something about the main character, Calla, that drove me nuts. I just didn't connect with her. Also...I'm just going to say...having feelings for both brothers (even though she didn't REALLY act on them) didn't sit right with me.

There's a lot of action and magic in this book. You also have a lot of different characters throughout and even get segments in the various perspectives. I'm on the fence as to whether I liked that or not...mostly because in some sections it felt like a distraction while in others, I thought it added to the core of the story,

If you're looking for a new YA book with magic, action, and the chosen one approach, consider picking this one up. As I mentioned, the ending hooked me and I will pick up the next book to see what happens next for this cast of characters.

The Ruthless Rivals series by Kate Bateman is one of my favorites...I mean every book is an enemies to lovers trope and I'm here for it. A Wicked Game is book 3 in the series and while I absolutely recommend you read the entire series, you could pick this one up as a standalone if you wanted to.

Harriet Montgomery and Morgan Davies are our main characters in this book and I loved them both. Harriet and Morgan have always had a rivalry and when Harriet finds out he is going off to fight Napoleon, they end up making a bet that if he comes back alive, she will grant him three kisses. I don't know that Harriet realizes just how motivated Morgan is to make that happen. Unfortunately for Morgan, due to a purposely misleading map getting him shipwrecked and imprisoned, he's slightly delayed but makes it his mission not only to get back to London for the kisses but also to get revenge on the map maker.

I loved the banter and the relationship between these characters and Bateman does a fantastic job of developing both. I loved the map making piece to this story and of course, there's a bit of danger included due to the work Harriet does and Morgan's time in captivity and all of it kept me turning the pages to see what was going to happen next.

If you're looking for a great new historical romance, I definitely recommend picking this one up. As I mentioned, I love this entire series along with Bateman's other books and will continue to keep her on my auto-buy list.
