Second in this middle grade series and the adventures continue for Olive and her Misfits group of secret operatives. This time art forgery and a missing sea treasure collide and action abounds.

Another excellent, tense, near-future tale about people and how they interact with their environment. This is the third book I have read of this author, and in some ways this book was stronger than previous books, and in other ways there were a few plot lines that seemed thrown in to add tension and then quickly thrown out /resolved which weakened the feel for me. Overall, another solid work of art!

Still a fantastic sci-fi meditation on being human.

A death doula who helps others move through their feelings of grief, loss, and regrets; yet is stymied by her own personal losses. An interesting premise and while some parts seemed to be formulaic, overall I enjoyed this book and can see why it is a community reads finalist for my local library system. I especially enjoyed listening to an extraordinary narrator who added such depth of feeling to the character of Clover.

Twisty and dark, with a lot packed in. At first the timelines of Before, Recent Past, and Present were frustrating but in the last quarter of the book I understood the author’s purpose. It certainly added to the surprise events that were revealed.

Ooh - this homage to Sleepless In Seattle was gorgeous! As someone who LOVES that movie, this hit the right notes and the love letter to Baltimore was also well done.

A sequel to Alone, this was a fast paced book about what happened to those that left the community. Not too deep in the plot, with lots of references to movies and American history that may go over the heads of middle grade readers, but still a good companion to Alone.

Such an emotional, beautiful book about grief and loss. There were several times I was brought to tears as the main character, Sage, opens up her heart to share about the grief of suddenly losing her best friend in a traffic accident. Many thanks to @libro.fm for the ALC.

Such a thoughtful and well written book about teen love through the eyes of 17 year old Neon. Neon is nervous about what is about to happen to him and his girlfriend Aria, and begins recounting their relationship through flashing back in time (24 seconds, 24 minutes, 24 days, 24 weeks, and 24 months). Caring adults, truthful conversations, and honesty make this an outstanding read. Jason Reynolds is a masterful storyteller.
