Thanks to Atria for the ARC and Book Club Favorites for the finished copy of this book!
I really loved the premise and potential of this book. The concept of knowing we have everything we need to get to net zero emissions and slow or halt climate change is so important. We’re drawn into the story of the Vargas family, getting a YA perspective from daughter Emi and a dual timeline perspective from her parents, who played pivotal roles in The Great Transition to save the planet. It ended up feeling a little too much like a slow burn thriller with the missing mother piece - and those work for a lot of people, but not for me. I also understand the role of big corporations and the rich as being more pivotal in climate change, but taking them out seemed a little extreme. While I loved the concept, I didn’t love the follow through.

“We are not born into our nature; we choose it. And although the people and places around us may influence our lives, our decisions seal our fate.”
A new book for your witchy reading! Night of the Witch is based on the Trier Witch Trials in Germany, but is also perfect for lovers of NA fantasy romance - it’s such a great blend of genres!
Fritzi survives an attack on her coven and is determined to retaliate against Kommandant Dieter Kirch, who leads many of the witch hunts and burnings. On her way, she ends up with an unlikely teammate: another hexenjäger (witch hunter) named Otto.
Night of the Witch is an adventure filled with forbidden love, forbidden magic, and lots of action and twists. This is one you won’t want to put down!

An interesting start to a series with a shadowy, morally gray MMC with wings and a siren with a lot of debts. I am intrigued enough to continue with the series.
Perfect for pre-teen parents!
I tend to really enjoy Warren's commentaries, but this one was not his best.
Enjoyed this more than book 1, but there is still a lot of teenage drama. Will continue with the series.

Loved the plot points and thought they made for an excellent telling of a slave story. The involvement of spirits and thinking back to overheard lessons from the tutors didn’t blend quite as well into the events as I’d hoped - it didn’t seem very cohesive. Overall, I liked it and will say that Jesmyn definitely has a unique writing style.

An important topic to cover, but I preferred a certain other book that covered this a lot more

Thanks to Wednesday Books for the ARC!
The Forest Grimm is the perfect adventure for lovers of the Brothers Grimm fairytales and YA Fantasy. Starting with Little Red Riding Hood, tarot, and a selection of chance to see which villager has to go into the forest in an attempt to save the village, we follow Clara’s journey to save her missing mother, and ultimately, everyone she knows. There are a lot of dark fairy tails jam-packed into this winding story, and there’s also a little romance! This was an enjoyable listen and a great addition to a Fall TBR.
