This book was wonderful and beautiful. If I weren't on a book buying-ban, I'd run out right this minute and buy all of Patrick Ness's other books! Although the original story idea wasn't his, I think he executed it wonderfully!
And yes, I cried.
I'm afraid to admit that I'm too lazy to write out everything I think was amazing about this novel. Instead, I'll leave you wondering so you'll go out and read it for yourself.

John Green points out all the obvious and brilliant things in our every day lives that we don't notice often. This book is life-changing. I feel like I see things a lot differently. Hazel Grace is the strongest head I've been inside (and not just because she's battling cancer); she's one to hold her own on any opinion, having cancer stops her from doing some things, but not quite everything. Meeting August doesn't change her; it makes her better.
A MUST READ! I'd recommended to basically anyone. Even someone who doesn't necessarily like reading.

3.5

1 star.

Oh man, I really wanted to enjoy this book. The premise was really interesting to me and I was excited to pick this up!

Unfortunately, as I described in my October Wrap Up video this book was like bad sex. You want it to be great and you anticipate reading it, but it just ended up limp.

The characters didn't have much depth to them and constantly made me want to tear my hair out, each incident just felt as though it was there to give the book length, and the "mystery" was way too easy to figure out.

That's all I really have to say about this.

Lauren Oliver has yet to disappoint me.

edit: changed to 4.5 -- hasn't left much of an impression on me

I found this a little hard to rate; overall, I enjoyed it, but since it's the first volume of one-shot comics, there's no answers. And I did find each one-shot a tad anticlimactic.
But I really enjoyed it! It reminds me a bit of the classic story The Five Doctors, and I'm not extremely familiar with classic doctors so I liked reading this and seeing their different personalities.
in the end, this gets a solid 4 stars.
