I flew through this book so quickly but part of me feels it was my desperate need to get to the end. As in, to finish the second book by obligation so I could get to the hopefully better third. I found the sequel to The Selection a bit slower in some areas and all around I see a significant lack of development in America. She just seems to become even more impulsive and indecisive when it comes to Maxon. Aspen still seems shadey to me but frankly I don't see much of a point in him being here anymore. There isn't the spark with him and America like she has with Maxon (when she's not totally shutting him out). However, by the last few chapters I felt myself enjoy things more because America was finally very honest with Aspen and she realized, in my opinion, all she has to lose if she closed her heart anymore to Maxon.
