Harry Potter in military college learning about magic and dragon riding is the best way to describe this book 😂

It's very fun (if you have the correct expectations not altered by BookTok). I really loved the characters, especially the secondary ones. I want them as my friends. (Except for the narc 😅. Anyone who read the book knows what I mean. No one likes a narc.) I enjoyed learning about the world and I honestly loved the main character, Violet. She's great! I didn't feel like scenes lagged and I loved the dragons and magic. Again, very fun read!

Con for me was the writing. It's not the best. There are the same words and phrases repeated often. It can be hard to follow dialogue wise with lack of "he said" and "she said" so I had to go back and re-read sections. Some parts were very dramatic, young romance dialogue, but I allowed myself to just vibe with it 😂
(Also has a couple spicy chapters. Just a heads up for anyone.)

Overall, recommend it! Chill out on a beach and allow yourself to fall into college drama and dragon magic 😊

Fun concept, cute characters! It is something I am not in the mood for at the moment but would probably pick up again at another point.

I read this in two days and am now writing this review at 12:53am because I needed to finish it. Fast read. Short chapters, simple, straight forward writing. Great characters showing both their flaws and strengths. Explores a lot of emotion, topics of nature vs nurture, and had me in a hold with how information was presented. Not an outright spoiler - Only flaw to me were some character interactions that didn't really seem to have any other point besides making the reader slightly suspicious. Felt unnecessary. But overall enjoyed it!

I love this series for the characters and the world-building vs the plot itself. I love my Black Company boys. This final book in the trilogy brought everything together well. Including history details from other books, and concluding mysteries planted in the other two books. It brought heart ache (in a good way). Cook does a great job of us seeing the good and bad in people, showcasing how human they all are. I do not give it 4 stars because

it felt like a similar plot to the second book of stopping the Dominator's return, losing some main side characters we have grown to love, and the Black Company barely having anyone left.

The world-building was even greater here with amazing creatures. Highly recommend this book and I am excited to continue onto the next one.

I don't know it just didn't keep my attention enough. Other books came up that were more interesting and after a month of not going back to it I probably won't in the future.

This book truly transported me. With a main character I cared for deeply. It takes a little bit to get a grasp of storytelling style, but once you accept it it's a great story. The world building is fantastic, and it's filled with mystery. At the end it had me ponder how I view things, and if I am content or not with life. Highly recommend it!

The book world and concept are awesome. I really love the writing. It is a slow set up that focuses more on the main character than the world plot which is fine. (Some people in my book club didn't finish due to the slowness. Some of us weren't bothered by it.)

The reason I DNF was due to the amount of sexual content and main character sexualizing women. The sexual content is really not graphic (would not consider it smut or detailed. All consensual so far.) But the amount of times a woman is described only through her looks or that he is having an erection or ideas of what he wants to do, etc. It it jarring to me. In real life some people are more sex driven than others, it is life. But to me it kept taking away from great female characters, pausing the flow of the sentence/paragraph/story

I might come back and pick it up again at some point because the world is awesome.

This book was peaceful, innocent, and had me reflecting. I heard similar words shared by the main character that sound like myself as I figure out life right now. It was comforting to read emotions put into words. Characters were enjoyable and I liked the history of the world!

Tbh it is disappointing that White Sand is a graphic novel. I read the first chapter in the Arcanum Unbounded (which includes the graphic novel version and then a normally written novel version of chapter 1.) The novel version was so much better. I gained more knowledge of the characters, world, magic systems, etc. The graphic novel feels like taking pieces from a whole and it falls flat. Due to this reading through volume 1 I felt like I was missing so much, jumping around really fast, and that character emotion's were randomly occuring without a cause. I am going to read all the volumes, to continue in the cosmere, but I am looking forward to jumping back into Sanderson's novel writing.
