3.5/5.
What I loved about this book was the mental health part. I found her struggles with anxiety heart-breakingly powerful and well done.
If it may not be the best thing to recommend to someone struggling with mental health because of how Evie views herself and mentally ill people throughout most of the book, you unsurprisingly get beautiful, powerful and inspirational speeches at the end about mental health, acceptance, loving and taking care of yourself etc.
If I didn't particularly get attached to the main characters, every moment with Evie's little sister was beautiful and my favourite aspects of this story.

Now, this book wanted to be such a feminist statement.
And at times it said great things about women, but other times I couldn't help but roll my eyes or scowl because I did NOT agree with what they were discussing as feminism. It almost seemed like what the author was trying to say was : stay away from teenage boys. Even the mental health expert tells her not to date boys - just because it always hurts... What?

Other than Evie's little sister, the one character I was fond of was Ollie, but he got complety put aside and left over by the end, we still don't really know what went on with him. For those having read the other books in the series, does he get a mention ?

So there you go... A book that wanted to deal with important issues, but didn't work on every aspect for me. Won't be reading the books that follow the other girls, sorry.

AAAAAAAH THE CLIFFHANGER !
What can I say ? This author writes some of my favourite books. Every single one of them. V. E. Schwab's books just seem to be exactly what I'm looking for in a story, even when I don't know what I'm looking for. It all just seems perfect.
Okay, A Gathering of Shadows didn't quite reach up to the level of A Darker Shade of Magic in my opinion, probably because of the second-book-in-a-series thing, but it didn't make it any less enjoyable.
The characters are great, the ideas are amazing, and I absolutely adore this vast, complicated and magical world that is still being built throughout these books.
NOW RELEASE THE NEXT ONE.

Aaaw this was so good.
Loooads of graphic sex scenes, yes, but there was also a plot. The development wasn't particularly surprising, true, but still. I loved it.
It's because there characters are incredibly loveable. It's heartwarming to see such a positive,  loving relationship between two amazing people. Who said there had to be angst and huge questioning for a couple to be interesting?
One thing that bugged me was how it was said all throughout that Gavin was trouble. He was the arsehole who couldn't be trusted. WHAT? He's adoooorable. Stop saying shit. And of course I loved Davy, socially anxious wallflower (me). And together they're just... Ugh. New OTP.

3.5 - 4. Yay.
I didn't feel hugely attached to the characters but for a short story it was still good - nice and sweet.

Who doesn't love a slow-burn m/m filled with angst, torture, secret agents and highly trained assassins regarded as monsters by basically everyone ? Oh, and it's available to download FOR FREE !
Ugh. It's everything I love.

Oh, and I listened to The Reason by Hoostabank half way through this and it was just perfectly representative of the story ...

Didn't get this one.
I'm sure some people will love these poems. They just didn't resonate with me personally.
80% of them about relationships i know nothing about. The rest, the few at the end, some were good, i'll give you that, others i had to roll my eyes (things like you've got to love yourself before anyone can love you).

I didn't expct this to be brilliant, but still... I thought it could be a fun read? And the plot sounded interesting.
I must say, for the first half I actually found myself being entertained. I think I like the idea and wanted to see where it was going. Despite that, the lack of depth of anything just became too unbearable. No world building, not much character growth, didn't care much about anyone, not even the romance element. Nothing felt particularly believable.
Basically, the idea is interesting but the writing is just not good enough to make me enjoy the reading experience.

Always and forever in love with Santino Hassell's characters.
Always so much depth, and flaws, but you love them anyway.
I do.

3.5-4 /5 I'm going to have to say I didn't like it as much as the first one (unpopular opinion apparently?) but it's still a very enjoyable read.
Love Ray, actually relate to him on many levels.
Santino Hassell delivers once more.
