[Apologies, this is a vague review in interest of keeping it spoiler free.]

This book was. . . unusual. The way it started off made me wonder at first if this was my type of book, but quickly I realized that if it wasn't exactly what I expected to read before it was definitely something I'm glad to read — and expect to read more of with the sequel! This book was definitely weird, and graphic in the use of adult language and imagery, but was all around well-written and full of humor. Don't think I've laughed as much while reading a book as I did with this one. I had trouble putting it down at spots(real life kept me from reading it more than I liked!) and when I could read without interruption I'd devour pages. It was even in first person yet kept me constantly hooked! Hoping to pick up the next book soon. This is definitely a book I recommend! And I'm most definitely glad that it was recommended to me.

The Way of Kings

Brandon Sanderson

DID NOT FINISH

A more detailed review to come. For now, I'll say this: Brandon Sanderson is utterly brilliant. The detailed complexity of his world and characters are absolutely breathtaking. The way he weaves a story leaves you hungering for more with each page. . . and when the reveals come? Oh man, do you ever feel it. This is fantasy at its best.

I found this book to be surprisingly well-written and refreshing. It has the right amount of humor mixed with seriousness for a police drama/mystery. The characters are interesting, as well as fascinating, and their dynamic together keeps you entertained. The plot itself keeps you hooked in. I'd suggest it as a book to pick up to anyone- friends, family, stranger on the street. This is definitely worth a read.

Another enjoyable read in the Nikki Heat story. I had a lot of trouble even putting this one down, far more than the first one, and couldn't get over how much I enjoyed it. There was so much more... mystery and drama going around in this book. The 'Whodunit' question rang loud, but not clear. At every turn I was proven wrong by the presumptions I'd made. As a reader I love to guess and see if I can figure out the answer before the book reveals it, but here I didn't succeed. The characters this time around were even more entertaining. The antics of Roach providing many laughs, especially when interacting with Nikki or Rook, and the touching moments were even more heartwarming. Definitely a favorite of mine.
