This book gave me the feels from the beginning. I knew it was going to end up being a 5 star from early on as long as then ending wasn’t a total flop. Thank goodness it wasn’t! The best YA novel I’ve read in quite a while. Highly recommend!!
This one was a bit quirky, but fun. It's a light read with a witty narrator. Completely different writing style than I'm used to, but very imaginative and enjoyable.
This book read seamlessly. The characters were believable (though not always likable) and the multi-angled plot worked really well. I looked forward to picking up this book every night and was left wanting more of the story...though the ending was really quite solid. Basically...I could totally do with a sequel — always a good sign.
The weird style of narration didn't do it for me on this one. Points for creativity, but I really struggled to slog through this one. I did consider a DNF a couple of times. The ending was decent, which may have given it a bit of salvation in the star rating.
This is a good and easy beach read, but I found that the fact that I had seen the Traveling Pants movies totally destroyed any surprise factor. That was a bummer. So while I enjoyed the story and the characters, I was a bit bored by the read. Had I not watched the films, this may have rated slightly higher.
Wow. Seriously. Wow. This one was monumental. It is incredibly honest and raw, addressing a very troublesome issue in current events and culture. Thomas does not shy away from realism. It makes for some occasionally uncomfortable reading, but it is oh so worth it. I was hesitant at first and it took me a few pages to really be okay with what I was reading...this one definitely fits the diverse reads category for me. However, once I got over my own issues, I could NOT put this down. This book is a very powerful narrative on a sensitive topic and I think that Thomas handles it fantastically. She doesn't make things overly pretty...doesn't make it some sort of fantasy outcome. She treats it as you would expect things to happen in real life. I can't say enough good about this book. Everyone should read this one.
