I couldn't wait to get back to this book every time I had to put it down. The topic is dark, but it is so well done that I just loved it. Highly recommended.
A classic for a reason. The story is well known due to so many adaptations, but the text still holds its own. I loved this quick little novella and it is certain to be one that I revisit during occasional holiday seasons. The writing is so good and easy to read through with vibrant characters and such a great message. Some classics are boring and stuffy and hard to get through. That is not the case with A Christmas Carol. I'm only sorry it took me this long to finally pick it up. Wonderful.
I really enjoyed this book. It's just so great. A good story of a girl who wants to be seen for who she is, not what she is...a girl. I liked Frankie. She's an intelligent and strong-willed girl. Unfortunately, she's stuck in an environment that doesn't allow her to thrive. There is a lot of misogynistic culture surrounding her. A lot of the males around her (and even some female role models) are condescending and treat her like a child. They don't appreciate everything she has to offer. I just loved how she was able to be such an intensely powerful character within her own right, even though it may not have been appreciated along the way.
Wonderful book with beautiful writing. I should've read this sooner. I loved it. For the full review: http://erraticprojectjunkie.blogspot.com/2013/01/secret-daughter-by-shilpi-somaya-gowda.html
Super quick read and this time I have the next in the series waiting in the wings. Thank goodness! I wanted to finish this one so badly that I kept pushing myself to stay awake for just a little bit more.
Very good series and merged well with The Mortal Instruments series in this last book.
I loved this book. Loved it. I like that she chose to write it in Adam's voice rather than Mia's. It was a VERY GOOD decision. I also enjoy the fact that this book could do just fine as a stand alone. You don't have to have read If I Stay for it to make sense. However, I will say that you should read If I Stay first if you're planning on reading it at all, because if you read this first everything in If I Stay will be ruined for you. I loved the writing, I loved the voice that came through the narrative. Adam comes through perfectly full of angst. He's the perfect rock star. Have I said perfect enough? Because that's what this book was for me. Perfect.
