It was kind of funny how smart this guy thinks he is and how stupid he thinks everyone else is lol, I'm gonna reread this in a couple years when I've hopefully become more competent and see if I understand more. Also, would it kill the author to just say "they" when referring to managers, traders or just people in general rather than just using male pronouns for every hypothetical scenario? I get that it was written in the early 2000s but believe it or not, women did actually exist back then and did things other than housework and spend their husband's (not hard earned) money

decided that they didn't
want to write
paragraphs like a normal
person.
This was so
frustrating
to read.
the format was so weird and the pacing was even worse, the first 1/4 of the story reads as a wikipedia plot overview of what happened with no emotion or whatever. This might just be a personal thing but I HATED the short sentences and how the author decided that she was going to be "artistic" (*cough* pretentious *cough*) or whatever by doing the paragraphs weird. I get that the very basic and somehow emotive in the least emotional way language is intentional but that doesn't automatically mean that it's good.
The main character's love interest was nice enough but they just introduce him and are like okay they're in love now. And then they keep up this whole "forbidden romance" thing cause she's a rich white girl and he's poc which in itself is overdone but I don't mind the cliche if it's actually done right. The author shoves down the readers throat that she's in love with him but like,,, you ever heard of "show don't tell"???
I have other complaints but I don't want to keep writing this, I've seen that a lot of people liked the story but didn't enjoy the style but I did not enjoy either, would not recommend :/
