I really enjoyed reading this book. I may or may not have written down most of not all books mentioned in it so I can go ahead and read them one day and understand some references. One of them is The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath. I cannot not read this now that I have read the Paper and Hearts Society. I (sadly, and for reasons I will not reveal in this spoiler free review) connected a lot with Tabby. Both my teenage and current adult self see too much in her. I loved all the characters! Sweet tooth Ed, kind Henry, Olivia (who reminded me of you tuber Lauren and the books) awkward Cassie, cute Gran and adorable Belle! My second ever book about book lovers! 2/2 success! Can’t wait to read the sequels Lucy Powrie!

I listened to this audiobook on the train or bike to school and back. It was really hard not start bowling my eyes out. Kerry Hudson opens up about her difficult past with this book of hers. And the memories take shape the more you read and the more she herself unveils and tries to understand what happened and accept it at the same time. I really felt like giving the author a hug after this and happy she is now strong and bold to talk about the system of meritocracy that has created this systematic violence towards the kind of people she grew up with. Yes, I would definitely recommend it to anyone can stomach it.

There are triggers of rape and domestic violence in this book.

A gothic read with its dark and twisted thoughts of Merricat. Wow! I felt chilled while reading it and it is no wonder that this word is so frequently used throughout the story! What a great read!

The audiobook was pleasant with a lot of talented actors. But that is it for me. It was about just another 70s band even if it was fictional. Almost no depth of characters. I think the only one that was somewhat developed was Camilla because she talked about some of her experiences explaining her behaviour but with all the rest... nope. It was a disappointment as the story is very poor. It had so much potential such as:
1. Focusing more on the era! Apart from one reference of the Vietnam war and the excessive use of drugs. And still if the former was not mentioned I would not have understood what year this was played out on.
2. Characters acted like teenagers to a point where it got annoyingly repetitive.
3. The interview structure did not work for me regarding all characters except for Daisy Billy and Camilla.
4. I basically forgot that there were two brothers in the band because again, it is not further explored.
5. Eddie felt like he was created to just be annoying with no depth once again.
6. Daisy and Billy’s behaviour to one another is baseless. They barely experience anything substanatial together and yet the story plot is heavily depended on them.

I’m sorry but the book did not work for me. I would not recommend unless someone wanted an audiobook with good actors for a quick and easy listen while doing chores or sth.
