Wooooow!!! What a read! So much tension that I felt it in my bones while reading it. Without giving anything away, I just felt that the ending did not live up to my expectations, I just needed a bit more explanation! But other than that, it is so much worth the reader! I think this is my first wver thriller and oh my , I am shooook!

Suitable for 4-5 years of age.
I loved the cover and the illustration! Illustrations are so important for such books an this one did not disappoint. It is so beautiful that I was actually bit distracted by the text which felt somehow disconnected and with not a good flow. It feels that the red thread was somehow lost. I did enjoy the school report at the end though which elevated the book for me in the last minute!.
Thank you #NetGalley for providing me an arc of #TheVeryLastLeaf.

I could not get into it.
Something about the characters voice was off for me. I do appreciate the diversity in it however. It felt like the beginning was slow and hard to feel the flow of what was going on. Maybe it was just not for me.

I was deeply moved by this story. There was a certain melancholy in both illustrations and prose. A book that must be read by kids and adults alike. I am against the notion that kids books should only be happy and positive as I feel that they are better off exploring all emotions good and bad!
I highly recommend this one and I would love to purchase a physical copy of this book. Beautiful 5 star read for me!

This is a non-fiction children's book. Despite the genre having the tendency to be a bit dry sometimes and a mere layout of facts, this was the complete opposite making it feel like a story instead. It is clear that the text has been thoroughly and meticulously researched by author Jude Isabella with sources, an index and great and helpful illustrations by Kim Smith that complemented the text. A superb introduction to difficult subjects such as biodiversity and reintroduction of species.
As a kid, I read anything nature related and this one would have been read again and again I imagine.
Great work all in all! Highly recommend. A definite 5 star read from me.
