I love everything about the art and color palette in this graphic novel! It's gorgeous from start to finish. I wish some of the scenes had been slower-paced, as there were a couple of points where I had to double-back to figure out what actually happened between panels, but overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this volume!

I’ve never been a huge audiobook person, but over the last year I’ve been listening to more. I’ve officially got two series I will not be able to read physically, because I love the narrator so much. Kieran Culkin brought Magnus to life in a way that my own imagination couldn’t when I read Sword of Summer. I don’t know if that’s the reason why I enjoyed this book much more than the first, or maybe it was the thoughtful and just all-around important introduction of Alex Fierro.

Either way, 5 stars for this book. I can’t wait to listen to more!

I've been told so many times to read this book and start this series. The concept was interesting to me and the structure of Reeve's writing flowed well. I just didn't like the characters and so many of the situations felt contrived. This book was not for me and I don't think I'll continue with the series because it was such a slog to get through.
