a vivid, heartwrenching portrait of womanhood and of the female spirit in a society plagued by hardship and suffering. 

no book has emotionally destroyed me like this book; i cried six times reading the ending over and over again. the resilience, strength, empathy, and love shown by mariam and laila is so, so beautifully portrayed and the ending is so quietly brilliant and hopeful. 

who in the administration was allowing a boxing fight on the grounds of the school like is this the wbc??? 

i could've done without the sheer amount of pop culture references but i thought this was nice, and imogen is a very lovely mc. gretchen is a tad bit insufferable tho

mid and my least favorite emily henry book.

i really wanted to enjoy this but unfortunately i did not find myself invested in wyn and harriet's relationship...i liked the friendship aspect of this book however. it's true that friendships change and ebb over the course of someone's life, and it can't and won't stay the same. i thought the way henry wrote about that was nice.
