I listened to the audiobook narrated by the author and I highly recommend that medium.

The rating reflects my own enjoyment of the book, not it's literary quality. I always find it awkward to judge someone's autobiography, because it really isn't my place to decide what story they want to tell.

I will say that the narrator comes off as slightly sanitized on one hand, and on the other Styles is very liberal with using her deadname, which is of course her prerogative, but night be jarring and triggering to some readers.

All in all, it's a good book if you are totally unfamiliar with the experience of trans people, but it should definitely be read in conjunction with other memoirs from BIPOC trans authors.

This was not a bad book, but I found the multiplicity of examples to be not as informative as the author seems to think they are. Mostly, I tuned out during those. I suppose the aim was to maximise the number of readers who would feel seen, but instead, it created a scattered feel. For more practical and informative knowledge, I recommend "The Freelance Bible" by Alison Grade.
