There's nothing wrong with the book, but I did not enjoy it. I'm not a huge fan of true crime and I found the pacing too slow and the atmosphere not really developed. Others might enjoy it, though.

This book snuck up on me. It gently cupped my heart and, before I knew it, was squeezing it so softly yet so persistently. It feels too close to home in both despairing and beautiful ways.

This was surprisingly so much fun! I can't to read "James" by Percival Everett as a retelling.

This is somehow not what I expected, despite it being exactly what is described on the back cover. There were definitely interesting themes around what we class as important knowledge and the ways culture is transmitted, but I wish they were explored more. Cut all the weird teenage lusting and we could have had more.

The concept is so strong, but so was left hanging a bit. The dream images of ancient China also felt a bit racist.
