The writing is interesting but good GAWD are the characters insufferable. The casual ableism/racism of their neolib life makes me want to throw up. How many times did I have to hear the author use the r word in such a causal way just to find out that she’s still figuring out ~how a person should be~

I read this book purely to read a book I paid money for. I don’t think I got anything from it nor do I plan to read it again. 

If you like unlikeable characters, maybe you’ll like this

Very loose plot, mostly (uneasy, Get Out) vibes. I wish it was longer and it might have been more impactful 

Fine enough, but it feels like something you read when you’re just entering feminism? Very shallow in its approach but makes sense

All too relatable 

I wanted this to be so much more than it was. Even 1/4 of the way through I was losing interest and had to skim parts. I loved the concept and the writing is interesting but it reads so slowly and I do not care about this investigation through a One Direction lens. I was hoping for discussion on fangirls in general/a lot of different fandoms. I understand that focusing on one fandom makes for a tighter and easier investigation, but it made me stop caring :-/ Maybe this would be better on audiobook instead of a physical book?
