Overall I liked it and got what I wanted out of a wintery thriller.
I could have done without the entity talking though. I think it would have been better with a creature that didn’t speak and you’re left guessing what’s going on. Or if the creature was more explicitly evil and people had to make harder decisions/fight more

Not a 5 mostly bc it was a bit too long and kind of dragged in the middle. The ending wasn’t a big build up, stopped being spooky or atmospheric once you find out a bit more of what’s going on, and I was getting so SICK of hearing the name “Elenor queen” (literally why. Maybe every now and then but wtf)

Super interesting but wanted more history/knowing the origins of practices came from and less actual witchcraft. (Don’t get me wrong, as a witch I think it’s interesting but I think giving certain information to anyone can be harmful). I also just wasn’t expecting a 50/50 split of folkcraft how to’s and info

If it’s your thing, you’ll LOVE it. However I found it to be only okay and didn’t really care about the characters as much bc it felt YA (since they were all mostly young).

A love of the discussion around generational trauma was great but I cannot and will not listen to a man argue that you can *never* move past trauma if you don’t heal your relationship with your parents. How can you argue that it’s on the child to resolve issues they have with a parent *no matter what occurred*? It’s reasonable to say that parents’ trauma can cause them to be shitty parents and terrible people but to tell someone that they will never get over their trauma or have their issues resolved unless they HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WITH THEIR ABUSERS (a potential situation that he somewhat danced over) is fucked up and left a sour taste for me after the first few chapters.

Meh. You know what you’re getting with Christie and if that’s for you, this is fine. But overall kinda boring and not very Halloween spirited.

Eh. I probably would have loved it when I was a teen but now it’s just kinda boring and left me wanting more than it gave
