A love of the discussion around generational trauma was great but I cannot and will not listen to a man argue that you can *never* move past trauma if you don’t heal your relationship with your parents. How can you argue that it’s on the child to resolve issues they have with a parent *no matter what occurred*? It’s reasonable to say that parents’ trauma can cause them to be shitty parents and terrible people but to tell someone that they will never get over their trauma or have their issues resolved unless they HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WITH THEIR ABUSERS (a potential situation that he somewhat danced over) is fucked up and left a sour taste for me after the first few chapters.
