Overall, this series is a 3.5 for me - I wish I’d recorded these as separate books, honestly, because Annihilation is an easy 4.5 for me, with Authority as like a 3.75, and then Acceptance as a decent wrap up at probably a 3.0, but overall, good series! Interesting sci-fi concept.

This is an exceedingly mid Stephen King book. He’s written a million better, honestly.
I just couldn’t force myself to read any more of this. The plot line was VERY slow, and I really just didn’t like the characters enough to keep going. I love strong female characters as much as the next guy, but these ones - despite being strong - felt very, very bland to me. It’s not that this is a bad book, I just don’t think it’s my cup of tea.

I think this book’s success lies in how realistic it feels, despite the mythological subject matter. Circe very much feels like a real woman, experiencing things that real, normal women feel. Her character development was excellent, and start to finish, I enjoyed this novel.

This! Dark Age lived up to the original trilogy in a way that Iron Gold didn’t. Twists, turns, and general plot insanity keeps you guessing the entire time, and is incredibly engaging. This book had me in tears one moment and laughing the next. Outstanding, as always, from Pierce Brown.

Wow. In true Pierce Brown fashion, a LOT of twists and turns in the last 200 pages. The thing that separates Iron Gold from the original trilogy, in my mind, was the politics and intrigue. Unfortunately with that also comes a bit of a slower read. All of the information was necessary to set up the action, but it dragged on a little bit before the good stuff really happened. As is, every character is currently in the category of hate to love them or love to hate them for me - incredible, as always, from Pierce Brown, but Jesus Christ I could not be running to pick up Dark Age any faster.

Another five star for a book in the Red Rising trilogy. This wraps everything up in the story of this aspect of the Revolution so perfectly - everything is just tied up enough, and Pierce Brown does a masterful job of letting a story complete itself naturally. One of my all time favorite series and a perfect emotional read.

Again, these books continue to amaze me. Pierce Brown continues to paint a picture of a believable, flawed Solar System where it would be so easy to hate so many characters, if he didn’t make them all feel so human. Easily one of my favorite book series I’ve ever read.

This was an UNEXPECTEDLY incredible book for me! I’ve never read historical fiction quite like this - it was tense, and the ending I did NOT expect whatsoever. The last 100 pages of this book were AMAZING! Additionally, the book is slow-paced, but there’s so much necessary exposition and situational horror about the Arctic that I didn’t even realize would freak me out. I loved it!
