I had to stop listening to the audiobook version once Telemain (sp?) appeared because the voice that the man does for him is like nails on a chalkboard. The character of "Gypsy Jack" is so racist and problematic that I am not going to read any more, even in a different format.
Furthermore, The tension of the story fizzled out after the main characters met and pretty much immediately liked each other anyway. Everything is quite predictable now and very problematic in the way of old books.

Short, clear, easy to understand, and probably going to be very helpful in my overall revision strategy! Definitely check this book out if you have little clue what to do with that rough first draft of your novel manuscript. This book, unlike many others, was accepting of genre fiction and even seemed to focus on revising it in particular! Would definitely recommend to other genre writers who are feeling lost in the revision phase.
I am almost at the end of this book and cannot force myself to read any more. So disappointed because I loved the first two and really wanted to like this book. But this story pretty much ended halfway through and then the book just kept GOING and GOING and GOING with all new characters and some old ones that didn't even matter. Despite some cool battle scenes, there was literally no reason to read the climax of this book. Why? Because it lacked one crucial thing: Emotional Stakes.
So, I am putting this book down mere pages from the end because literally nothing that is happening matters to the emotional journeys the characters have been on for the last two books and the beginning of this one.
This is what I think Matharu should have done, but only read if you've finished the book or have no intention of reading it, because it's all spoilers:
