This book has one very good idea, which could have been written up in a blog post. The rest of it is just padding to make it a full book, talking about everything from long anecdotes of the author's life to the importance of optimism in life, in general. I read this book because it was mentioned in several other self-help books I have read recently, but I think those books do a better job of expanding and improving upon the initial idea. This book is not a necessary read and I am not going to waste my time trying to "finish" it when the main idea was wrapped up long ago.
This book is creepy. I dread reading it, so I'm just going to stop. I don't know how this book can keep up the strange voice and POV and remain compelling. Why do I care what happens to this vague, all-powerful old man character without a backstory? Answer: I don't.
