One Dark Window is Rachel Gillig's debut novel. I enjoyed the story and with that cliffhanger I need the sequel. The story follows Elspeth and what she calls the Nightmare. Elspeth and Nightmare have a very complicated relationship. The love interest is Ravyn the princes cousin but I enjoyed the relationship between Elspeth and the Nightmare better.

Never a Hero wasn't as exciting as Only a Monster but it was still good. The first hundred or so pages was a little slow but that could be because I'm an Aaron fan. I'm excited for the conclusion to see Joan grow her powers and to see who she chooses.

There is another murder mystery and Signa's uncle Elijah is the accused. Signa and Blythe (who gets her own pov in Foxglove) move quickly to prove his innocence before he can be executed. Death's brother Fate shows up in town and he wants Signa for himself. I can't wait for Wisteria to see how a few things work out.
