These patient files are a lot of fun! The 6 patient files weave together a story that I am eager to hear more about. While the book isn't terribly believable, it was a really enjoyable read. I'll definitely be checking out the rest of the Dr. Harper books.

Underneath surprised me in the best way! I do enjoy a little sci-fi with my horror, and this book blended the genres seamlessly. It's very atmospheric and claustrophobic, putting me in mind of The Thing - although the execution is quite different. This was my first book by Robbie Dorman, and Iook forward to reading more.

4.25 stars. This book is just as ridiculous as the title and cover would imply. I mean that as a high compliment - B-movie ridiculousness is my favorite subgenre of both horror books and films. Calvin takes a trip to Hell, which has been turned into a candy-filled, Lisa Frank nightmare. When a bunch of emo, poser unicorns show up intending to take over Hell, hilarity and gore ensue. This book is also really funny, and had several passages I read aloud to family. Highly recommended.

Whew, this book was gut-wrenching from start to finish. I find books like Cries of Joy to be much more disturbing than anything supernatural could possibly be. Reading about Graham's descent into madness was frankly, pretty tough. Great book, but all the trigger warnings.

This book was a lot of fun! I've seen comparisons to Thirteen Ghosts and I would say that's a fairly good assessment. High art it isn't, but it is a lot of fun, and I think it would make an awesome movie. It is badly in need of an editor, though. There are quite a few clunky sentences and a bunch of misusages of words. I did receive an ARC, though, so hopefully those issues are cleared up before publication.

3.5 stars rounded up. Richard Chizmar sure knows how to write slice-of-life, small town intrigue. I'd put this book firmly in the thriller category, rather than horror. It's a quick read, well-paced, and I truly did not see the "who dunit" coming. I always enjoy Chizmar's books, and The Girl On the Porch is no exception.

3.75 stars, rounded up.
This was an interesting haunted house story, with a cute lesbian romance on top. I do like reading YA horror, but this book was almost a little too tame for me. Then again, I am definitely much older than it's intended audience, and I can appreciate the need for tamer horror books. I'm a bit sick of the "hardline skeptic refuses to believe what they're seeing" trope, but that is a personal pet peeve. Overall, a very solid ghost story.

3.5 stars rounded up. I really enjoyed this novella about three friends returning to the trailer park they grew up in. The supernatural twist was interesting, and the backstory as well. I almost felt it was a bit too short, but overall a very solid novella.
