Small but mighty, this novella quickly hooked me. When a woman returns home to find out what really happened to her dead son, she gets more answers than she bargained for. The pacing was great and the story well-written. 4.25 stars

I greatly enjoyed this collection of novellas set in the fictional Michigan city of Samhattan. I found the last story boring, but all of the preceding stories were excellent.

The Quarry was a lot of fun! I enjoyed the story and the characters and I thought the story was well-written. The end was a bit predictable, but it didn't affect my enjoyment of the story. I look forward to reading more from the author. 

Kind of boring and not very informative 

3.5 stars, rounded up. This book was a lot of fun! I didn't enjoy it quite as much as Malevolent Nevers, but it's definitely worth a read.

This is a very solid collection by the author of The Cursed Among Us. It contains a lot of great creature features and a lot of fun and unique ideas. We also get a prequel story from the novel Inside the Devil's Nest.

Mira Grant is quickly becoming one of my favorite horror authors. I read both of her mermaid horror books, and while Parasite is quite different, it's also obviously well-researched and well-written. I will be picking up the second volume ASAP.

I barely even know where to start with this book. It was beautiful, haunting, terrifying. It gave me actual anxiety - that hasn't happened since I read Bird Box years and years ago. I have always been fascinated by the ocean, but also incredibly scared of it. New fear unlocked.
I also lost my father a year ago and we also had a very complicated relationship. Whalefall was a gut punch on an emotional level, too. This book deserves to be famous, to be taught in high schools. It is absolutely astounding and like no other book I've ever read.

I picked up this collection after reading the author's novelette, Phantom Pain (included here). I very much enjoyed it!
