This book seems to be a very decisive one. I've seen a lot of wtf in reviews. I guess I read enough weird fiction and bizarro that this book didn't phase me. That being said, I did quite enjoy it. It's absolutely weird and slightly disturbing. 3.75 stars

This book is a very slow burn. We join Charlie as he tries to outrun his past, and instead runs headlong into something much bigger than him. Those of us with anxiety will definitely identify with Charlie's struggles. It almost got to be a little too much, but the writing is very effective. 3.5 stars, rounded up.

Well. I'm pretty gutted after finishing These Things Linger. Bleak, but beautiful. Perfectly paced and well-written, but frantic. It's a beautiful meditation on grief on grief as well. I have a feeling that I'll be thinking about it for a long time. 5 stars

This book was a real punch in the gut. Definitely check your triggers with this one if you need to. They are numerous. Heart-wrenching and well-written, it also gave me a history lesson. I was familiar with the Nigerian Civil War in name only. Since the book is set in 1968 during the war, I went down a bit of a rabbit hole learning about it. Though abrupt, I thought the ending was great. 4.25 stars

Thank you to Crystal Lake Publishing for providing a review copy.

This collection offers three different road trip stories by some real indie horror heavyweights. My expectations were high, and I was not disappointed. 4.25 stars

I had so much fun with this extremely creative retelling of Wizard of Oz. If you like your fantasy dark as night, you'll enjoy this book. There's plenty of gore, but the story is damn good as well. 4.5 stars, rounded up.

If you like your western horror with ghosts, fae, and creatures from legend and folklore, this book is for you. It surprised me in the best way, taking a typical revenge story and having it go places I was not expecting. I definitely plan on reading the second book when it's available. 4.5 stars, rounded up.

I always love T. Kingfisher's main characters. They feel real to me. People I'd love to be friends with in real life. Sam is no exception - and she has a really cool job, too. In the end, this wasn't my favorite Kingfisher, but I did have a lot of fun with it. 3.75 stars, rounded up.

This book is so unique. It's a mashup of crime, small town horror, and cosmic horror. The best I can come up with is cosmic Michigan gothic. Bleak as it is, the book is beautifully written. This was my first David Peak book and it's been on my TBR forever. I definitely won't wait so long to read my next one. 4.5 stars, rounded up.
