I found so many of the stories boring that I just gave up. That's never happened with a Datlow anthology before, but they can't all be winners.
I'm not a fan of the writing style. Also there were some things mentioned in the book that were not around in 1995
I just realized I really didn't care what happened in the story anymore, and pretty much all the characters are unlikeable.
I'm so surprised that I didn't love this book, because I gave Suffer the Darkness 5 stars last year. The writing in this one just doesn't work for me. It's very "tell-don't-show" and I'm not a huge fan of that. I couldn't get into it.
The book isn't written very well. There are some very awkward sentences that I had to read several times. There's also a scene where someone sneaks into a car through an open window while someone is outside pushing it. That is absolutely ridiculous.
The out-the-gate Christian proselytizing is not it for me
I found the book unbelievably boring. I like a good character study normally, but this was just tedious despite my love of black metal.
I never liked RHCP but I thought Flea's biography would be interesting, but I found myself bored halfway through.
