I'm going to be up front and say that I am biased because I am in my 50s, so this spoke to me in a way I was unprepared for. This is a book primarily concerning two characters in their 50s, their complicated lives, their long friendship as a firm basis for romantic love, and frustrating adult children with all of the awesomeness that comes with those relationships. In other words, this book was written FOR me. Notwithstanding the fantastical elements of the book, Bannen did an amazing job writing about the complexities of love for older adults, and also, some of the insecurities and tribulations (and forgiveness) related to younger love. In short, this was a book about love that spans generations and speaks openly about it all. I went into it for the tale and ended it with tears in my eyes from the beauty of the story. Highly recommend. ❤️

This is my first Kaitlyn Hill book, and it won't be my last. I don't typically seek out YA books, but since I knew this was late teens/early 20s, I wanted to test the waters. I wasn't disappointed! Team Finnatalie ended up being such a fun pair to root for, and I found myself laughing, cheering, and doing a little bit of crying from all the emotions they shared and felt throughout the story. The author did a great job of laying the trail (pun intended!) for the reader to follow, and I loved the journey. I also now know what to do if faced with a bear in the wild. Go read the book. 🥰

I have read several Kate Clayborn books, but this one has been my favorite so far. The way Clayborn digs into the mental gymnastics a person would have to go through to take on the care of a younger sibling when the parents dip was pretty phenomenal. If you are a fan of the "He falls first...and HARD" trope, then this is a story for you. There were so many lines that I highlighted just because they were a beautiful turn of phrase, in service to a larger story. Just a really wonderful, emotional love story....between siblings, among friends, and about the people who see those they adore as their true selves.

What a great follow up to Consort of Fire! I wasn't sure where the authors were going to go after leaving off the first book on quite the cliffhanger, but they did not disappoint. The characters of Sachi, Zanya, and Ash were so easy to root for and fall in love with, and having them achieve all that they did during this part of the tale was immensely satisfying. If you are looking for a fantasy romance with some serious heat/steam, I would highly recommend this series!
