Such a fun horror. Felt like an ode to old school horror movies from a Black girl’s pov. Loved the twists and turns. Loved the nod to Black horror writers books and film. Loved the nostalgic representation of old school horror movies. I yelled at this book just like I yell at the screen in the movie theater. It was even more fun as a buddy read, the comments kept me cackling.

The main character frustrated me from very early on. That made it hard to focus and I wanted to get it over with more than I cared what happened. Ultimately, focusing on the mystery got me through. Still can’t figure out why this plot seems so familiar to me.
