I really wanted to love this but it just wasn’t there. It felt like a knockoff Harry Potter with some weird stuff (like giant cats that can talk) thrown in. It wasn’t awful, but it wasn’t something I will read again.

I don’t have words to explain how much I love this book. Every part of it was interesting and compelling and the characters were so incredibly real. I cried when I finished. No idea why, it’s not a sad book...but I did anyway. I will be reading this again, without a doubt.

It’s not a bad book, it’s just not for me. It’s too “parent being whimsical” to work for this type A parent of 3 kids. There are many that will love it, but it just isn’t for me for the same reasons the “bravewriter lifestyle” isn’t. I wanted to give the book a shot, so I did. Alas, not my favorite.
