I've read the other two books in this timeline. I adored The One and The Passengers was quite nice once it got going. This one? It falls flat for me.
You know how kids' books can have a "formula". Think like Magic Treehouse and Goosebumps. A then B then C etc? Well this book is like reading the first two except that that I have no cause to care about any of these characters. At least in the first two I didn't hate everyone's POV.
And I'll also admit as an autistic adult I was a 0/10 fan of Bruno's chapters.

Fast paced, sure....but that's about all it's got going for it. Who writes 6 year olds as if they are middle aged? No one reading that book would EVER think those characters were 6 years old if not explicitly told so. Repeatedly.
slow-paced
I wanted to like this, I really did. In the end it felt like the author just took adjectives and threw them at the page which made for a VERY slow read that didn't really SAY much other than what things looked like.
slow-paced
I am annoyed by this book. I thought I was getting a slow burn zombie book. It was a slow burn, all right...except for it never got anywhere. It was just straight up slow. I came for monsters. There's almost no monsters at all and there's SO MUCH TIME spent talking about dogs??? No thank you.
slow-paced
This just, wasn’t for me. I never could get over that this was an 18 year old being written…there were several things that made her seem more 14-15 and even then. Meh.
