Alien books are generally not my thing but I really enjoyed Flying and now Enhanced. Even though Enhanced is a bit more serious, it still maintains the human and camp of the first book.
Mana has some ROUGH stuff going on. Flying left her in a really vulnerable spot and Enhanced drops her right back in and kicks it up a notch. Luckily Mana is up for the challenge, as evidenced by the ending of the book!
Recommend for those who want to dip their toes into sci-fi without going full in.

Dear Martin made me angry and uncomfortable, as it should. It’s all too real for much of America today. Don’t be fooled by its short length - Nic Stone masterfully crafted the perfect story within those short pages.
Here are my quick thoughts on reading Twilight 12 years after it first came out...
1. I still love it just as much, primarily because of what it meant for the time.
2. How fast Bella proclaims her love is REALLY REALLY FAST - it came way faster than I remembered.
3. Yes, Edward is still creepy. I'm still #TeamJacob
4. I'm glad I did this!

You ever read a story where the ending makes the entire thing that much better? This is that book. Yes, the entire book is engaging and you can’t wait to consume it but THAT ENDING. I think I have whiplash from all the twists and turns!

The Diabolic ended with Nemesis becoming the next empress, hence the title. Since she is not viewed as human, this is not an easy sell to the world and people in positions of power. Does this stop her? No. But she’s not clueless to what this journey will look like.
👑
In The Diabolic, we saw just how brutal Nemesis is. In The Empress, we see how human she is, despite her programming. It’s a fascinating look into what it means to be human, where a non-human entity has more humanity than any of the humans in the room. Let that sink in.
👑
That ending, though. Just when you think you can trust something, you’re whacked upside the head and reminded that humans are problematic and not always good, despite their intentions.

Can I have book 3 now?

This was cute and the narration by the author was perfect!
Brooding YA Hero: Becoming a Main Character (Almost) as Awesome as Me
Broody McHottiepants, Carrie Dirisio
To anyone who wants to write a story, this is for you. It’s full of crafting techniques and wrapped in listicles, quizzes, and other fun things. For fans of the brooding YA hero, you’ll laugh and relate to all of the tropes we’ve come to know and love. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t fist pump a bit at the end :).

Anyone else dying to see Linnea's illustrations? I can't wait!
This is everything.

Absolutely loved this. It was so twisty at the end and I totally didn’t guess whodunit!
A cute feel good story that reminds me of why contemporary will always be a base for me.
