SQUEEEEE #ReMade is BACK and it wouldn’t be the dystopian sci-fi we love if it didn’t leave me with more questions than answers. Spoilers below.
So quick catch up from last season - ReMades are not all on the same page and just when you think it can’t get crazy enough…Previously dead (?) character, Jing Wei, waltzed back on the scene, leaving us all like WHAT HOW. This season opened up and showed us what she’s been up to since she died in the ReMade world and was apparently brought back? We still don’t know how but we may know why - she has the ability to fix things (robots) from the most random of parts. We also got a glimpse into her previous life through reflection.
The serialized nature of the story allows us to have these personal moments with the characters, something I enjoy as a person who enjoys a character driven story. I can already tell this season is going to be full of twists and turns. What the heck are the caretakers up to?

It's no secret that HOLDEN is my favorite. I was thrilled that we got a Holden-centered episode so early in the season.
We've always known the intent of (some) of the ReMades was to make it to sanctuary. To get some answers. To get some peace. To make the best of this new life. So here we are, at the door to the next phase in the ReMade world. Nothing like a few caretakers to ruin that experience.
Episode two also gave us a bit more insight into Umta and the life she lead before becoming a ReMade. It's clear she's an outsider amongst the outsiders so learning a little more helps to cement her place in the team. It was great to see Cole, too. His story just makes me so sad.
I can't wait to see what happens next week! Now is the perfect time to jump in, with season 1 free on podcast and two episodes into this season.

One of the most character driven books I’ve read, and a little crazy, too. And Then There Were Four has one of the best covers, best premise, and best layout of story arc. See, this isn't your usual thriller. This is a story of a group of teens who are being murdered...by their parents. And it's told like a campfire story. Two perspectives, a little messy, but full of the thrill that you just won't be able to put down. These characters are just so fascinating!
Haunting the Deep has been haunting me since YallWest and with its release today on audio, I couldn’t wait to consume it. Let’s put it this way: it’s 5pm on release day and the 10 hour audio is already marked as finished.
Because it’s THAT GOOD.
Having not finished How to Hang a Witch, I was concerned I would be lost going into the story. These characters and their world have already been established and Adriana does a fabulous job of introducing it to new readers in a way that won’t bore fans of her debut.
Haunting the Deep centers its story around the Titanic and the connection between that story and the main character. As a bonus, Adriana’s family has history with the Titanic, something she explains in her author note (side note: what a fabulous voice she has!). I was completely sucked in by the story and it’s fictionalized account based on real events.
I loved the timing of this release. The atmospheric elements are perfect for Halloween. From the ghosts to how eerie it is, Haunting the Deep isn’t so much scary as it is creepy. Oh, and did I mention the magic? Witches! Magic!
This is fun historical fiction wrapped in contemporary so there’s wide appeal for all audiences. Highly recommend on audio - the narrator is great!

Feral Youth
Shaun David Hutchinson, E.C. Myers, Robin Talley, Tim Floreen, Stephanie Kuehn, Susanne Young, Marieke Nijkamp, Justina Ireland, Brandy Colbert, Alaya Dawn Johnson
When we first learned of Feral Youth, a collection of stories retold Canterbury Tales style, we couldn't wait to get our hands on it. Shaun's enthusiasm alone is enough to make you want to read it and then you see this AMAZING diverse group of authors who contributed and it's like 😍.

See what I mean? Feral Youth is more than a collection of stories. As the stories unfold, you'll see that they unveil little morsels of each character in the larger story arc and the ending is just so good. Each of these stories is wrapped within a bigger story (fascinating process, as you'll see below) and each story is so uniquely the author's that long time fans will have a treat and new fans will get a peek into that author's work. It's hard to pick a favorite because they're each so different. I really loved E.C. Myer's two-part story and am pretty sure I will never sleep again. His work is so provocative and completely terrifies me. Tim Floreen's story was so engaging that I couldn't stop my audiobook before I finished it. Suzanne Young's story was all too real.
What I am really saying is you need to read it. If you don't get completely sucked in, I'll be shocked.

This book is full of quotes that I want to paste all over my walls. Full review to come!
