I very quickly read this book for a class the night before the book was going to be discussed in class. Had I taken my time with Green's collection, maybe I would have appreciated it more. The imagery in his poems is absolutely fantastic.

This book was really good very several reasons. One thing I really enjoyed was Shrier's writing style. Shrier has the capacity to be serious and humorous which makes her hard to chew topics more easily digestible. Her writing is clear and to the point so no time or energy is spent trying to decode the data. The book read quickly; normally nonfiction is a drag for me but I found myself getting through the book rather quickly compared to other nonfiction books I've read. I would have had the book finished quicker if I hadn't picked it up during finals week.
What else makes this book so incredible are the claims she presents. It is scientifically amazing that a group that has been historically dominated by men has seemingly overnight become dominantly female. To me, this book isn't a political statement but rather a review of recent events and a presentation of valid questions. Is Shrier completely correct in all of her claims? Maybe. Who knows? The point is that this is a conversation worth having if it means helping struggling youth.

The Chain was a very interesting book. Based on chain letters and drug cartels, McKinty had me flipping pages trying to figure out what would come next. While I enjoyed the action and the ideas, this book does come with its own cliches and unrealistic relationships. I enjoyed this book enough to wait impatiently for the movie and pray that Hollywood doesn't screw this up.

I love "Animal Farm" for multiple reasons. I love the allegorical reflection of the 1917 Russian Revolution and that each character represents a historical figure. I love that Orwell's simplistic and precise writing makes difficult political concepts more chewable. I love that despite the characters being animals, there is an innate human connection to their situation. "Animal Farm" is required reading.

At a young age, I was intrigued by this book and would read it every Christmas. I loved the stories, Ella's adventures, ogres, Prince Charming, and Ella's strength to overcome her curse. Every girl should read and become to know this story.

It had been a while since I read this book. I remember staying up Christmas night trying to finish the entire thing. I always fell asleep before finishing it. This is a book I cherish.
