A very gripping story. I really liked it. Of course, parts of it is tooo similar to The Hunger Games, but nonetheless, I am very much invested in this series now. Also, I wish that the book had ended on a more positive note instead of leaving the reader so tense and worried.

It is a sad, horrific life described in these pages. It is also a tale of man’s undying spirit and courage in the face of unspeakable evil. A big salute to the brave souls who kept their souls untainted during these challenging times.

The Emily Wilde series is so much fun to read. The 340 pages just zoomed by. The fantasy world building is magnificent. I’m now totally invested in the lives of Wendell and Emily. Cannot wait to read the next book.

A very practical book. It addresses all the steps to organising small parties, in a step by step fashion. Lots of tips and tricks in this little volume. An easy to breeze through book - one that can be used as a refresher any time one’s planning a simple gathering. I do feel that the pricing is a little bit too high.

Flash Gordon has always been a surreal experience for me. This issue, even more so. It deviates considerably from the usual Flash Gordon stories. A strange mind-bending experience, is how I can best explain it. Fun!

The story is good, I’ll admit that. But I do feel that towards the end, things moved really quite fast. I mean, without giving any spoilers, was it really that simple, that easy, that quick? If the problem could be solved without any practice, without any elaborate safeguards, was the problem such a big deal? Still, that’s not my biggest issue with this book. I personally like a good, clean read and this book was not one. The story was good, but the added elements of unnecessary * * * really really irritated me. If it weren’t for that kind of content, I would probably have rated it much higher.

An excellent book. One which I reread once in a while. I’m intrigued by the mysterious Madame Chic. Truth be told, there are such ladies all over the world. There are quite a few ladies in my acquaintance who are very polished and classy. In our families too, furniture is maintained for generations - Ikea is nearly unknown. Household purchases are limited to fresh ingredients for cooking, clothing during special occasions and repair works. Also in most households, food is made from scratch - though that’s fast changing in urban locales. I love recognising the old world charm of such attitudes halfway across the globe. Also it motivates me anew to be a better person everyday.

A book about a strong lady, daughter of a God and yet, not valued by the men or the women in her life - mostly ignored, often ridiculed for her appearance, her actions, even her voice - but one who endured. If one thing can define her, it would be endurance. I read up on the myth of Circe once I started getting into this book. The author has explained most of the stories convincingly. It was definitely a good read.

An old, old favourite. One of those books that I can escape into. A world of magic and wonders. A definite part of my childhood, I don’t know what more I can say about it. Love it.

I have read this book several times. I reread it whenever I feel like I’m slacking on the ‘living consciously’ department. It is a very practical guide on how to improve your-self in just a few extra hours a day. It is perhaps one of the earliest books on “time management”. A really quick reminder to be more mindful and intentional with time, imho
