The narrator for this collection of Rainbow Fish tales was absolutely perfect. I adore the stories of Rainbow Fish and I was unaware how many there were! It was so nice to experience the new ones along with the classic ones I was familiar with.

There’s a “song” between each book and the title is given which is a good cleanser between stories.

My kids enjoyed it as well, which is good since they are the target audience and not me! They liked the narrator and they way she read the book to them. She made it fun - and that’s what I want for my kids when finding them books!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

As I was listening to this I kept thinking it felt super familiar. The further into it I got the more I felt it. In the end I realized it’s very similar to A Simple Favor which is a favorite of mine. While this one is technically older, I read it after and I do feel that this has affected the way that I enjoyed this one.

There are major differences but they’re similar enough that I found myself comparing and this is a recipe for disaster in reading books. This one wasn’t as enjoyable for me. There was so much drama I honestly found it unbearable. By the time it started getting good I was already over it and that’s unfortunate.

It never really redeemed itself from the less than interesting beginning. While it did become gripping and interesting, that just didn’t overcome the early parts.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ since it did eventually become interesting.

Thanks to NetGalley for the 2022 version of the audiobook!

This is definitely not my favorite. It was pretty typical and not at all thrilling. It really just wasn’t for me in the end.

Thank you to NetGalley for the audiobook!

This novel makes its stance known as pro-choice while still sticking to the facts (with citations!!). On top of that, there’s a solid history lesson included, again with citations which honestly made this enjoyable for me. If I’m going to read non-fiction like this, I do enjoy the ease that citations add when fact checking - and as a fact checker I’m here for it!

I received the audiobook from NetGalley and I can say I have complaints. It’s short and sticks to the point.

This book was adorably hilarious. When our main character finds herself in a bet with her sisters over who will marry first, she decides she’s finally going to go after the man of her dreams - and it just gets more and more hilarious from there.

This book was just a perfect romantic comedy. There’s some miscommunication which annoys me but it turns into something completely hilarious and made it worth it.

I love a good mafia romance series. This spin off from the Crane Family never disappoints.

This installment we have Lance and Damon starting out as married couple but they’ve kept it from the family until Rosie ends up back in their lives in a rather dramatic fashion.

The case that the families are working on has the usual air of dramatics for a mafia romance but our boys find plenty of time to show each other how important they are to each other. The spice is on point and doesn’t interfere with the plot and I am here for it.

I’m finding this one difficult to review so I’ll tell you a story:

I started this book a week ago. Listened to about 60%, went to bed and literally forgot about it. I. Forgot. About. It. So I opened the NetGalley app and saw it, remembered I was listening to it and attempted to pick up where I left off. I was confused so I backed it up a bit. Then I was remembering it all and didn’t want to sit through it again so I went back to where I’d started and listened through.

Basically to summarize, I did very much enjoy the last 40%. It was interesting and I definitely wanted to know what happened. However, if you’re a rereader like myself, I can’t say this book fits that mold exactly since it had only been a week and I couldn’t relisten to hardly any of it. Do I wanna know what’s next? Absolutely, I’ll be continuing. It was decently paced and the narrator was great too.

So even though I completely forgot about it leading me to believe this isn’t the most memorable, the inability to read it again because I knew everything already leads me in the other direction- see my reviewing dilemma??

I think I’m going with 3.5⭐️, rounded up of course because I did like it but I’m conflicted.

Thanks to NetGalley for the audiobook, and Flatiron for the paperback!

This took a bit for the world building to even begin which reflecting back on it, while I see that it was necessary, was incredibly irksome for me. Once the world building began, it was done in a way that made it relatively easy to understand and I believe was complete, however being 1/3 into the book before it even began seemed a tad bit excessive for build up.
Don’t get me wrong, I really did enjoy it. I’m glad book 2 is already available through the library. I guess I just expected something different from this series.
I’ve listened to the audio version and I do enjoy that. The narrator does a great job with all the characters and it is quite the performance.

I knew going in this wasn’t going to be my favorite memoir and it definitely wasn’t. I’m very happy to hear that she is getting help with her mental health struggles and I wish her the best in her future!

If you watched the Netflix series, there really isn’t anything new to add in this book - Joe is mostly just complaining (much like the show). Is it worth retail price? Absolutely not but the library is a solid place to get this book from.
