Very solid and intriguing things are complicating the plot beyond the games! I live!

Very fun! This enters ultra moon and sun changes while I think more than we saw in the game. TBD but I’m excited to see what they expand on. That expansion of lore is why I read the manga

This volume has several memorable panels that I think would make a for a good reread! For example, when Faba is recognized by Moon and there’s a panel of him internally freaking out. Gave me a laugh

The reveal of the main villain happened earlier than I expected! I like the added complexity of Sun’s motivations to buy back the island bc just making money never really grabbed me

A refreshing change of pace with the siblings having way more autonomy in this one. I liked seeing them make choices on their own. The horror is high here with a forced surgery which I liked.

It’s cute to see Sunny slowly develop her talking to include English. I laugh at which words she can say and where she still babbles. What is baby doing saying ‘sheer terror’

Enjoyable read with Tim curry as the narrator. Reliable as always. His Mr Poe with that cough is really terrible at times which gets the characters perfectly. A transition in the story for sure as the focus is shifting to the mystery of VFD. Kinda feels already like the mystery is being milked so I’m curious to see how we can handle 6 more books

Setting up a lot of things in these chapters but not very memorable. I just had to flip back through to remember what happened and I didn't read it that long ago.

Not gonna lie but I had to double check the definition of ersatz but I really should have trusted Lemony to teach us the word in the book. We are free from the author narrating now I think. Thank goodness because while a good writer he may be, a good narrator he is not. This is definitely the last one that I remember from when I was younger. Something about them having to pack extra socks for when their current ones wore out on the countless stairs was ingrained in my memory.

The teasing of information here is very frustrating. The triplets are all but begging to tell the siblings everything they know but the siblings weren't hearing any of it. UGH! Well, plenty more to come and answers to maybe come as well.

A very interesting read. This premise is a bit bonkers and I like that. This was a book club book! Someone suggested it and we all became intrigued.

Gothic vibes throughout, no one is really having a good time at any point in this book. Some magical realism aspects!!

I think the ending was satisfying. Oops, already forgetting the siblings names. Nora and... her brother... that went into the bog with their mother made sense. They were never happy where they were but would never have been able to acclimate to the real world. The bog is their haven. Charlie definitely went off to go better shit away from that bog. Hopefully wherever he is living doesn't have any other  trees potentially to fall on him. The sisters staying at the house is suspect for me because that house will continue to wither, no? The trees are asking to fall and the house is all but destroyed? Also Eda just having a random baby is wild!!!

Cool read and something that is outside my usual rotation!
