This was my first Updike book -- I know, I know -- and it was clear he did his research about Arab culture and the Quran. I honestly thought the boy would do it in the end and I was a bit discouraged that his teachers could talk him out of it so easily.

This book was highly recommended by a friend, but it was a bit too spiritual for me. I did read it in one day, however, and the story was good if you don't mind the religious stuff. This is for a faith-based person or reader --- and that isn't me!

I love you, Morgan! First, I watched your documentary, "Super Size Me," and swore off fast food for months, then I found out about this book, which chronicles the before, during and after of the documentary process. It's a real eye-opener.

The author recently spoke at our arts center before a showing of "October Sky" and I never got a chance to read the book before his visit. I'm glad I read it, though. Even if you think it sounds uninteresting --- rockets, coal mining and West Virginia aren't my favorite topics --- give it a chance. It's a great read.

This was my first Trigiani book and it was a quick read. I guess it could be called "chick lit," and for a mostly nonfiction, memoir reader like myself, I enjoyed the break from the seriousness of my previous reads.

This book wasn't what I was expecting. I thought it would be more like "Little Miss Sunshine," but it really was just excerpts from a teenager's diary.

I enjoyed Banks' first book, "The Girls' Guide to Hunting and Fishing," and was hoping for more of the same with this follow-up. It was more "Jew-y" than I anticipated, though. But, it was a quick airplane read. I think I "donated to the book" to a coffee shop in London.

I loved the movie of the same title starring Robin Williams; it was one of the few movies that made me cry. I found the movie spiritual but not religious, so I was surprised to find out how large a role religion (NOT spirituality) played in this book.

This was a long-lost find on the bookshelf that I read in one day by the pool on my honeymoon. It was like "Stealing Arizona" gone bad and without the humor. Good read.

I really looked like a Brit on holiday while reading this book by the pool! It was predictable but OK. The UK writing style and language took some getting used to, but it wasn't terrible, just not my type of book.
