I was intrigued by the premise of this book, but overall, the execution fell short.  I read 175 pages before DNFing.  I realized I was skimming more than reading and to be honest, I didn't care about the outcome.  Some of the tangents were fascinating, but I often found I had to remind myself the point the author was trying to make.  I'm just happy we have the plays that survived.

Unfortunately, I have decided to DNF The Lucky Escape 150 pages into it.  I loved the premise, but unfortunately, the execution didn't keep my attention.  I couldn't force myself to read another 200 pages of Annie and Patrick on their fake honeymoon.

I read a little over 100 pages of The Seven Day Switch, but I've decided it's not for me.  Most of the characters seem to rely heavily on stereotypes.  The working mom thinks the stay at home mom doesn't do anything all day.  The stay at home mom judges the working mom for having a house that is not up to her standards.  There is the devoted husband and the lazy husband.  Even the kids are categorized into "healthy" and "lazy" based on how much technology they use.  I didn't care about any of the characters to continue reading.

I was intrigued by the premise of Great Circle, but unfortunately it didn't live up to my expectations.  I read about 150 out of 580 pages before deciding to DNF this novel.

While I typically enjoy a novel with multiple timelines, I found the opening of this one confusing.  There were too many time shifts and it was difficult at first to figure out how they all connected.

From the part that I read, it seemed like quite a bit of the narrative wasn't necessary and I didn't feel like slogging through another 400 pages to finally make it to Marian's final flight.

SYNOPSIS
Jay Gatsby is murdered in August 1922.  George Wilson's body is found not too far away.  This should be an open and shut case, but when a diamond hairpin is found at the scene, Detective Frank Charles can't help feeling like there is more to the story.

REVIEW
The Great Gatsby is one of my favorite books and this book sounded amazing.  However, I am DNFing it at 122 pages.  

A lot of this decision had to do with my own expectations.  I thought Beautiful Little Fools would take place mainly after Gatsby's murder, but after a quick introductory chapter, we go back to 1917 when Daisy first met Gatsby.  While I was still pretty interested in the beginning, I've now realized that I just don't care about Daisy Buchanan and Jordan Baker.  I never really liked them in the original novel so to read an entire novel focused just on them isn't working for me.

I tried listening to this one on audiobook and it just wasn't doing it for me.  Maybe I'll come back to it someday.
