Loved pieces of this one. And others I felt like I was scratching my head. The ending-- I needed an epilogue!

Liked most of the book. Did not like the last 10%. Not sure how this will play out.

Would have been 5 stars, but I truly feel 100-150 pages could have been shaved here. But the storyline was fantastic and the ending was really well done. Excited to move on to the last book in the trilogy!

#TheFreedomClause by @hannahsloane

Thank you @thedialpress and @penguinrandomhouse for sending me a @netgalley link for this one! ❤️

Daphne & Dom have been together since they were 18 and one night Dom suggests a freedom clause. One night off a year to sleep with one other person. What could go wrong?

So much y’all. So much. But SO MUCH goes right. The writing for one goes extremely right. Sloane writes dialogue— bother outer and inner— that did not feel cheap or cheesy. It was well done and the character development in this novel is real.

The spice level is there for those who are here for that. But I here for Daphne. I loved her character and the sub stack she was writing in the book was so fun to read! 😂

Highly recommend this debut novel!

It seems most people who rate this book low, do so because they do not agree with Chris' decisions. My four stars represent the writing of the book.

This book is not always chronological which got a little frustrating, but overall the book was well done. Krakauer does his research when we picks a topic. His book Into Thin Air is also well done.

Thank you to the publisher for a Netgalley.

Soooo this was a miss for me. I wanted to love it, but I just did not. Katherine Center is a hit or miss for me. This is my fourth book by her and she's 2/4. My problem with the two I did not like was the main character. I felt Sadie was extremely immature, as was her step sister Parker. The weirdest part of this story was this relationship. It felt extremely misplaced in this story. And please don't get me started on Sue who continuously forgot her best friend could not see faces. Like seriously?

Loved the relationship with Joe, but that is pretty much it. Oh and the very end. Here for the ending as it brought some sort of maturity to the plot.

This is my second book from this series, as I DNFed book 1. I did not even realize this was book 5 in a series. Though there were some things happening that I had to infer on, it did not take away from the main plot/mystery.

What I liked:
The overall plot was well thought out. There were enough twists that you had to piece things together and the end result was satisfying. I like the team of officers in this series and found myself really enjoying the time we were with those characters the most. In part 2 of the book the plot picks up tremendously and that is what kept me in.

What I didn't: Just like the first in this series, there are times when the storytelling drags. Over descriptions at times, and to be honest I did not like Aisling. Her characters choices-- especially at the end of the book-- were just ridiculous. I am tired of the I have a secret past and no one can find out trope that is used to cliffhang chapters. Listen we all are going to find out, so just tell us in less pages.

4.5 stars

Really enjoyed this page turner. My only reason for not giving it 5 was sometimes when we switched point of views there was a smidge too much rehashing of events we knew. I did enjoy the two POVs though bc I think it was needed to tell the story properly.

Loved this book.
