Absolutely devoured this book. It had its creepy moments and the ending-- fabulous.
McMahon has become an autoread author for me. Ever since The Invited, I have been picking up every new release she writes, as well as, making my way through her backlist.
This book surrounds Allison and her family. Not having a great childhood, she is shocked to hear that her dying mother wants to stay with her. After taking in her dying mother, strange things begin happening around the house.
At no point did this book move slowly for me, and how the story unfolds is absolutely fantastic. Again, this book had its super creepy moments. It was a good mix of light horror and suspense as I truly needed to know how this book would end. As I said above-- that ending??? Perfectly executed.
Highly recommend.

Thank you to Del Ray and Netgalley for a free copy of this book.
Holy bananas. This book was absolutely insane, but I loved it. It starts off a tad slow, but then it comes together and this chunker feels way less chunky. Wendig brings us to a small rural town where an apple is wreaking havoc. People are addicted and the effects are horrifying. The writing was fabulous, and I thought the character development was well done. Wendig also puts us in the past for some chapters, or interludes as they are called in this book. These fill in backstory of the apples and town we are in, which add a lot to the story.
For those who don't like gore, this will not be for you. For those who love a good horror novel I highly recommend.

I absolutely devoured my first Octavia Butler book. So we’ll written and quite the captivating story.
Enjoyed this mystery!
Thank you to the publisher and Bibliolifestyle for the free advanced copy.
This was absolutely fun. I loved our three main characters and once I got rolling, this book was an absolute page turner. I really enjoyed Jack as a character. I thought she was a well written teenage girl.
My biggest qualm with this book was how many times the word Ma is in the book. It drove me bonkers.

Another book in the series down and now I sadly wait for the next one....
But back to this book, which was so well done. The mystery had enough moving pieces to keep it interesting. I really enjoyed the Garth character a lot.
As for our 4 main characters, I enjoyed watching their personal stories grow. I truly enjoy each of these characters and cannot wait for more books in the series!

Best SSYRA on the list. But sadly at almost 400 pages, this book will stop some 3rd graders from finishing all 15. The plot is tricky and again it's almost 400 pages.
