I feel like this was a mix of [b:From Blood and Ash|52831200|From Blood and Ash (Blood and Ash, #1)|Jennifer L. This sequel was much better than the first book. The first one felt like a re-do of Blood and Ash while this one started to feel like it's own story. I was thoroughly entertained!

Okay, this was crazy good! I want to read the next one so badly, I feel like it'll be even better than this one.

I think this is one of those books that you could read a second time and pick up on stuff you missed or didn't understand the first time but I also feel like there are a lot of stuff that'll only make sense after the sequels.

I will definitely consider buying this, I'm only worried that they'll end up switching the cover designs half way through the series (looking at you, ACOTAR) and then my set of books won't match.

I finished this book at 3.25am. I wouldn't stay up that late for a party. But I would for a good book.

Now, get me the next sequel and send me the whole trilogy in hardcovers because I need these on my bookshelf so I can re-read them and make my friends read them.

This book was - as I expected - a lot of fun and very entertaining and a fast read. But I don't have very much else to say about it.

I fucking love this series.

I took a star off simply because this lacked some of the crazy plot twists I've seen in the previous books but I think it was still great!

I feel like I just finished some type of mental marathon.

I expected this book to be slow-paced and heavy and that it would take me several weeks to get through, honestly I was expecting to DNF this.
But I think that mentality is exactly what made this book so enjoyable. Somehow expecting this book to be slow-paced made it so much faster and more enjoyable. I went into this thinking it was going to be depressing, but I found myself sucked into it. I could read 20 pages without even realizing it.

I was getting a bit hesitant towards the ending but I imagine it got more to do with me not doing really anything other than sitting at home than the book actually being boring. I would say this isn't the type of book you read in one or two sittings.

I know so many people who I would like to gift this to but handing over 550-page book of magical realism about 19th century colonialism isn't the most ideal gift to someone who hasn't read a book in years.

R.F. Kuang has the gift of storytelling. I love a book that makes you think, that makes you see the world differently and gives you crumbs to ponder on. This would have been a great read to share with my friends but unfortunately, they do not read.

I adore this book and I have a hard time believing there's going to be another book this good I'll read in 2023.
