Towards the ending I actually skipped pages because it just went on and on without a real result.
Could've been a higher rating but something just seemed... off.
This book needs to come with a trigger warning for SA. There are plenty of mentions of it, some description but nothing graphic. In some ways it feels weird how often it's mentioned and how much of it happens but how rarely anyone takes revenge even though that's a possibility.
Also, the storytelling is abrupt and two thirds of the book feels like a set up for the actual story the author wants to tell. In the beginning it's very obvious.
I'm not sure why this book is so popular but I guess the sequels are better. And I'm looking forward to the sequels. This book had some great moments and I hope there's more of that in the next one.

Holy shit these books are good. Fantasy with great world building and an amazing story arc and characters!
And that ending was AMAZING! And not just the last couple of chapters. I mean the last 50+ pages! AHHH! I want to read the next book but then it'll be over and I can't have this end. These are my new favorites, especially this book.

It's weird that I like about this series. I'm not much of a fan of scifi or action and I tend to skip action scenes altogether but here there's enough politics and schemes and backstabbing and plot twists to keep me entertained.

I wasn't expecting to like this since the genre really isn't my thing but I liked RWARB so I thought I should give this one a chance too. And turns out I really liked this. I also read this very quickly which is a nice change, nowadays with work it usually takes me at least a week to get through a book but this only took me a few days.
It's a kids book so I guess it's no surprise I didn't even finish this one. I read 250 pages but I just got really bored and couldn't spend another moment trying to finish it while there are so many more interesting books to read.
It took me a while to read this one but that's because work is exhausting.
I absolutely adore the world building and plotting in these books.
