I like my dark romance better when she's not so shy and innocent, you know?
fast-paced
I don't like the captive-captor thing. I don't like dub-con it creates. And here it was very much that. Their chemistry was mostly physical and the emotional chemistry came way later in the book. I read this because a friend recommended it but I'm not sure I'll be reading the sequels.

This is my favorite out of the whole series. I even debated if I should continue the series because all the other books have been 3-stars for me.
But this one? A consensual mafia romance just hits the spot. No weird power imbalance or dub-con. Just two badasses falling head over heels for each other. And even though it was 500 pages, it felt like 300.

If I had known this wasn't the finale I would have DNF'd a long time ago.
The first half felt like wading through mud. The second half finally got interesting. But why the fuck is this book 600 pages? I thought this was a trilogy so I kept going because I felt I was so close to the ending. But judging by the ending I think there's a 4th book. I don't think I will read it. I'm just so annoyed right now.
The first book in the series was fucking amazing. The 2nd book felt like a filler. This book should've been shorter.

Honestly, this was nothing amazing but it was fun so I guess I liked it. I mostly just listen to audiobooks of romance because I don't care for them too much.

This was like The Cruel Prince if The Cruel Prince had vampires instead of faeries. This has been one of the rare books where the vampires are actually cruel and horrifying. They're not the romantic interest and the main character doesn't want to be turned into one.
I'm looking forward to the next book, I think it might be more intriguing now that this "royal competition" is done with.

This was a clear step up from the previous sequel. The captor-captive didn't come across morally grey even though the author warns about dubcon. It all sounded very adult and consensual and it was kind of fun seeing an adult MC get flustered when talking about sex and not being a virgin at the same time.
The autism rep kinda made me think about getting a diagnosis for myself. If it were easier I probably would.

I liked this even though I didn't care for The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. This was faster paced and I was more interested in it. And the epilogue was the best part of the whole book.
