Finally, after two books that were okay, SJM has managed to put out something that completely enthralled me once again.
You're damn right I'm including all of the books I have to read for school in my reading challenge.
This one was drrryyyyy.
I listened to about half of the audio book on double speed before skimming the rest in text. It was so repetitive.
I hate assigned reading okay. Ethnographies are not for me.

I absolutely loved this novel.
I do wish that we'd seen more interaction between Rook and Isobel in the beginning but the whole thing was just so charming. The characters and the world. The magic system. The writing. It was all just so so charming.

For some reason I was surprised by how much I like this book, considering how much I liked the first in the series.
I have feelings about it and I don't know how to put them into words. So just imagine some flailing and thats pretty much it.
Blackwood's power play at the end made me reeeaaallly uncomfortable. I just didn't like how that whole little story arc was wrapped up. It should've been longer and messier than it was.

I liked it better than the last but I'm going to go pout in the corner because of how the romance played out.
I am here for pre-evil Medea. I like the idea that she started out soft and innocent okay.
This was a good decision for my first audio book. Pearl Mackie is a great narrator.
I can't decide if I want to rate this 3 or 3 1/2 stars.
I really liked the ending. Lia's character development was fantastic.
But I wasn't a huge fan of the first 250 pages. Lia was silly and everything was so convenient. I didn't like the whole "which boy is which" thing. (Its why I don't read suspense. mostly, I just want to know I'm right so I can move on.)
Every reaction I've every seen to this book suggested there was a huge plot twist at the end??? Unless They just really got the guys wrong, I can't figure out what that is??
I read it really fast though. And I enjoyed a great deal of it. I picked it up knowing it would be romance heavy, so I really can't complain.
