Cute, but kinda an overdone plot imo (the college long distance thing)

Kinda sucks knowing the background of Otis Batemans accusations, but I was so ready for this sequel and it really didn't disappoint. I hope Judith Sonneg decides to continue the series given where it left off☹️🫡

First time I've read something in one sitting in so long... :0 lovedd the art in this, gorgeous setting + character design and I love a good sad, messy sapphic story!! Bonus points for the horror😎I'm excited to read more of Emily Carrolls stuff! And the ending... Left with so much to unpack/theorize😭

I think this went a little over my head, there are some dense sections talking about economics, finance, other things I don't understand but seem essential to the stories and their themes. Each part ends abruptly and pretty harshly.

Reading it, I felt a little lost, but after thinking about it these stories really make you think about morality and choice in unsettling ways. It's very blunt, a little confusing, sometimes dense, but very purposeful. The writing is tight and intentional. Would definitely read more by Mukherjee, maybe in a couple years lol. These are complex stories and themes that need close attention

I'm...soo close to being done with all of Junji Ito's main stuff and it's so annoying how the literal first book I read (Uzumaki) has been by far my favorite besides a couple short stories🙁this had some great panels and a couple stories I really liked but almost 800 pages of basically the same story over and over... Love the concept but I'm tired😞

Never have I ever read a book with such an accurate title? Pretty different from what I expected, I enjoyed the over arching relationship between Rachel and Eliza but that ended too quickly, the other vignettes were interesting but then the last hour lost me🙃

If Tender is the Flesh and Cows had a baby it would be this book

This is a very original retelling of Huckleberry Finn!! I especially love the characters that are introduced later into the book. I became really invested towards page 100. The slave perspective was jarring and emotional💔

I wish there was more time given to Hucks/James relationship - I've never read Huckleberry Finn so it might be a skill issue but I would've read 50/100 pages of this story!!

Illuminating✨

Wowow I loved this a lot...sometimes it was hard to keep track of what was going on but I absolutely loved learning about this dark, emotional mystery and seeing how Damian's character transforms.

The summary made me think this was gonna mostly be about Damian dealing with grief, post his brothers death - it's a lot about that but I'd say more of his experience with the family whose mom takes him in, it's very trippy and unique! Crazy that this is a debut. Highly recommend this underrated gem!! The audiobook is narrated very well🖤
