This book ended up being way different than I thought it would be going into it, not in a bad way, just different! The beginning was a little slow for me and I wasn’t sure where the story was going for a bit but the way all the twists and mysteries came together was really great! I feel like I should have seen the plot twist coming but I honestly had no idea until right before it was revealed so I enjoyed that it kept me guessing the whole time! Part of me wishes we would’ve gotten a little more insight into Jen than just the few times it flashed back but I think Kara did really well at fleshing out all the characters and the storyline! While I enjoyed reading this, I think it’s going to be one that I forget a lot of the plot as time goes on but I do recommend it, if you enjoy YA mysteries!
I was fully ready to give this one 2 stars but the last 25% kept me very engaged so I bumped it up one! Honestly, I’m just ready to get to the Crows
It started out a little slow but wow it was good when it really got going and that ending was perfect
I FINALLY FINISHED!! *i’ll write up an actual review later*
Guys, this book has been on my tbr for so long and I honestly never thought I’d finish it but here we are! I finished and overall I enjoyed it! It’s my dad’s favorite book so he’s been telling me about it for years and I’m glad I finally got around to it! First of all, this book has a great storyline! It’s creepy and unsettling and stressful! The imagery is wonderfully done and there were parts that made me so uncomfortable that I had to stop reading for a bit but I also just needed to know what was going to happen! My biggest issue with the book and why I think it took me so long is that the first half of the book is really slow and sometimes it just felt so wordy and I wanted it to just get to the point. But I also think that’s kind of the point? Like it’s supposed to make you feel uncomfortable but I’ve realized that I’m a big dialogue person and most of this book is Paul’s thoughts

Don’t Breathe a Word follows two students at a boarding school separated by sixty years but connected by one mystery. In the present, Eva is new to Hardwick and just wants to find friends but she gets more than she bargained for when she gets recruited secret society, The Fives, quickly starts to realize there’s something not quite right. In 1962, Connie is one of six students to volunteer for Hardwick’s nuclear fallout shelter experiment. The first time I read the synopsis for this book, I was so intrigued and needed to know what happened as soon as possible! While the mystery didn’t end up being super surprising, there was a factor to it that you find out halfway into the book that I did not see coming! This book kept me at the edge of my seat and I really enjoyed the story overall! I have a weird fascination with boarding school plots in books so I’m always interested in finding new stories about them. I definitely recommend this book if you like a good mystery, the boarding school trope, two oblivious people in love trope, or just a really intriguing storyline!

3.5 stars: this one was just kind of boring? I kept zoning out tbh but the ending was good and I’m excited to get to the last one!
