4.5 stars - I have a lot to say but I’ve gotta get my thoughts straight first

I love the Crows so much and I just want to protect them all from the world. This book broke my heart and also healed it in so many ways!

My heart

I won a contest for an arc of this book and I devoured it! I expected to like this just because it sounded like my kind of book and I was right in thinking that! Lou is a very flawed character but being able to be in her mind was nice because you can see how much she really cares about everyone and she redeems all of her mistakes so I couldn’t help but root for her! Beautiful story that’s so important because you don’t see a lot of books with a bi main character and for the character to be so unapologetically herself but also have insecurities that are really relatable but don’t define her!

This book was completely different than what I expected going in but in the best way! I was expecting a cute and quirky childhood friends to enemies to lovers story with a mix of pinball, video games, and snow storms and while all of those things were a part of the story, it ended up being so much more. This was a book about how grief can change you and force you to grow up at a young age, how friends can drift apart but ultimately come back together when you need them most, about learning that you deserve unconditional love even if you haven’t always been shown that, and learning that letting go of physical things and places doesn’t mean letting go of people and memories. It was a joy to be inside Adam and Whitney’s minds as they discovered all of this and found their way back to each other! I also loved getting to know side characters like Chris and Dana and both Adam’s and Whitney’s moms, they really helped make the story feel full! I definitely recommend this joy of a book for everyone!

This book is first and foremost a beautiful queer love story. I absolutely adored this book and both London & Dahlia with my whole heart ♥️ From the moment I read the premise of Love & Other Disasters, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it so thank you to NetGalley for the early review copy! This book lived up to all my expectations and greatly exceeded them. It was funny and cute and emotional and spicy and just such a joy to read! I love reading stories about people that are different than me, it’s always helped me understand the world a little better. I’ve only read a few books with non binary main characters and I can’t wait to read more in the future and I hope so many more get published in the next few years! I loved getting to be in both London and Dahlia’s heads throughout the book and being able to get to know both of them, their struggles and their joys! I hope everyone picks up this book when it’s released next year!

I adore Kelsea Ballerini and I’ve been a huge fan of her music for years so when I heard about her releasing a book of poetry, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it! I’m so grateful to NetGalley for sending me this ARC because I was very anxiously awaiting its release in November!

I love this beautiful book of poetry! I’m not surprised because she writes incredible lyrics for her music already! Kelsea really shared huge parts of her life with us throughout this book from heartbreaking moments to fun teenage stories to heartfelt hopes and dreams and everything in between. The stories she told throughout are relatable and vivid in a way that really paint a picture of the inside of her brain and how she’s gotten to where she is now. This is more than a quick book of poetry from a celebrity that is given everything, she’s worked hard to get where she is and she has human problems just like the rest of us and she beautifully encapsulates the complexity of life and everything it entails. Definitely pick up this book when it’s released, even if poetry’s never been your thing, this book can resonate with anyone!
