*3.25 stars, it was fun indeed
(TWs at the end)

this was quick, easy to read, and i felt myself wanting to turn the page after everything i read. i think my biggest gripe was probably the judgemental nature of both kiskeya and sully, towards the other women in the competition. all in all, i enjoyed it!

TRIGGER WARNING FOR: homophobia, lesbophobia, racism, injury and recovery, domestic abuse, misogyny

this was my favourite so far. it tore me apart, stitched me back up, then ruined me all over again

that ending .. ouchie. but also, this whole book was chef's fucking kiss, never before felt or experienced.

not me finally finishing this

WOW wow wow. where was this when i was like 15 because i needed something like this :( i loved it so much.

felix as a main character was such an interesting experience because he felt so real to me. like he made mistakes and said things he may not have said but he was also regretful when he did something wrong, the way he reacted to different things that happened to him felt so authentic and difficult. felix feels like a real person and i dunno if that's because i see some of myself in him and understood his thinking patterns so vividly, or what, but it really hit different.

i've only read on other kacen callender book, which was [b:This Is Kind of an Epic Love Story|44557873|This Is Kind of an Epic Love Story|Kacen Callender|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1568261407l/44557873._SY75_.jpg|57834123], and i remember loving the way they wrote about human emotions in that story, and it translates so easily in here as well. they have this way of inner dialogue, that makes you feel what the character is feeling in that moment; they have that locked DOWN.

can i also mention how wonderful the side characters were? i felt like every one of them was developed in some sort of way, even the "antagonists", like marisol and the one who had done the gallery and was sending felix the instagram messages. they felt fleshed out, and their viewpoints and ignorance was realistic and infuriating.

i don't tend to like main characters of stories, i usually love the side characters the most and much more than the protagonist, but i love felix wholeheartedly. ezra is definitely my favourite, i feel like the complexity of his privilege and the situations he's put in, how he feels around that, really made me empathize with him.

ugh all in all, kacen callender really out here writing the best books! a win for us!

me the entire time:

ive definitely read this type of story arc in a different moon knight run i dont remember which one, but the art for this one just makes it overall better for me. different art styles for his different alters, and the way it comes together in the end?? bye
